studio

Welcome to my studio. Here I work on my oil paintings after making several sketches of the musician or musicians i am depicting.

I live in a unique village in Lancashire, called Sunderland Point, near Morecambe. The  tiny village can only be accessed by a causeway and is cut off by the tide twice a day. My studio is a room on the first floor of my home, and looks directly out on to the water, the window lets in lots of light, so as I prefer to work in natural light-it's perfect ! It's a very windy place, and having my life ruled by the tides, listening to the howling wind and looking out on such a fabulous view, all make my studio a truly inspiring place to work.

Visitors are welcome to visit my studio by appointment, and you must get the tide times from me beforehand to ensure a safe journey across. You can park on the beach when you get to the end of the causeway & then it’s a short walk to the second row of houses.

Sunderland Point is a wonderful place to visit, if you are planning a trip to my studio, it’s in a unique location. It is a village of 30 or so houses and a farm at the end of a tidal causeway, and was once the major port for Lancaster. Its landscape intermingles  the sea and river, salt marsh, shingle, mud flats and farmland.

I’m a musician as well as an artist and play in The Beggar Girls, The Sunderland Point Sea Shanty Crew and Lunetide, her is a link to a video of Lunetide, showing Sunderland Point at it’s best
